Supply of wind power

As part of its long-term transformation and decarbonisation strategy, the LEIPA Group has signed a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Statkraft. Statkraft, Europe’s largest producer of renewable energy, will supply LEIPA’s German sites with wind power from onshore wind farms starting in 2026.

By signing the PPA, LEIPA is taking another decisive step towards reducing its reliance on fossil fuels and sustainably lowering its company-wide CO₂ emissions. LEIPA already covers a significant proportion of its energy requirements through the use of bio-based fuels.

Antonio Bellante, CEO, explains: “The agreement strengthens LEIPA’s competitiveness and creates stable, predictable conditions for a sustainable industrial energy supply. It is a central component of our decarbonisation strategy and reflects our commitment to climate-conscious, resource-efficient, and economically robust industrial production.”

Michael Kopenhagen, Director of Energy, adds: “Purchasing wind power from Germany supports the transformation of our energy portfolio and provides our sites with even greater protection against energy price volatility.”

The PPA forms part of the LEIPA Group’s comprehensive sustainability strategy. This is also reflected in the EcoVadis Platinum rating, which ranks LEIPA Georg Leinfelder GmbH among the top one per cent of companies assessed worldwide.
