DNK Industry Guide for Publishers: First Insights on the Occasion of the Leipzig Book Fair

Sustainability has also become a central topic in the publishing industry. Future-oriented action is one of the supporting pillars here. But so is transparent, structured and continuous sustainability documentation. The German Sustainability Code (Deutscher Nachhaltigkeitskodex - DNK) provides the appropriate guidelines for this.

A project group with the cooperation of LEIPA, which represents the entire process chain, is currently developing an industry guideline customized for the publishing industry for implementing reporting in accordance with the German Sustainability Code.

On April 27, 2023, a first insight into the work of the twelve-member project group will be provided on the occasion of the Leipzig Book Fair (Hall 5, Conference Room, 1 p.m.). Under the motto "Sustainability! Freedom for Generations," Martina Stemann from the Börsenverein des Deutschen Buchhandels, Katja Meinecke-Meurer from Tessloff Verlag, and Olaf Deconinck as part of the Publisher Consultants will present the guidelines as part of a panel.

The project group also includes various publishers such as Tessloff Verlag, Penguin Random House Verlagsgruppe, Bonnier Books and C.H.Beck. In addition to the industry software provider Klopotek & Partner, the Stuttgart Media University, the paper manufacturer LEIPA, the printing service provider CPI and the cultural department store Dussmann are also involved as representatives of the book trade.

Here, LEIPA was able to contribute the knowledge and experience of more than 175 years of paper production and provide important impulses with regard to the sensible use of contemporary recycled paper.
