LEIPAbarrier ECO awarded with OPRL label 'Recycle' in the UK

The LEIPA Group is very proud of LEIPA Flexpack, which has now passed all the necessary tests and consultations in the UK so that our innovative product LEIPAbarrier ECO can be labeled with the official OPRL label 'Recycle' to help UK consumers get packaging material correctly separated and recycled.

This paper-based solution is designed for sustainable packaging and its recycling and enables the plastic content of packaging to be reduced and replaced by paper. LEIPAbarrier meets all food law requirements and was designed as an excellent barrier against mineral oilcontaining aromatic substances (MOSH / MOAH) in combination with a good to excellent O2, H2O and aroma barrier.

Together with our partner Tungate, the first products have already been packaged in this sustainable, flexible packaging solution and are currently being offered for sale in Waitrose stores.

We are also very proud that LEIPA Flexpack with the LEIPAbarrier ECO product is on the shortlist of the Packaging Awards 2020 for the “Resource Efficient Pack of the Year”! We keep our fingers crossed and will inform you here about the result as soon as the award ceremony has taken place.

The UK on-pack recycling label "Recycle" aims to put an easily recognizable and manufacturer-independent recycling message on commercial and branded packaging across the UK to help consumers recycle more packaging correctly and more frequently. The logo is now familiar to more than 3 out of 4 consumers in the UK, and over 550 companies are now certified members of the OPRL initiative.
