Round anniversary

Round anniversary

On July 5, 1847, Michael Leinfelder acquired the paper mill in Schrobenhausen and laid the foundation for an international family business with customers all over the world. Thus, we were able to celebrate our 175th anniversary last year.

In 2023, we are once again celebrating a milestone anniversary at our main plant: In Schrobenhausen, we have been manufacturing cardboard since 1973 – and thus for half a century.

50 years ago, the German Chancellor was called Willy Brandt and the CSU politician Alfons Goppel was the father of the state in Bavaria. In 1973, the first oil crisis dominated world affairs, FC Bayern Munich became German football champions for the fourth time and the first ATM was patented.

... and after long preparations, cartonboard production started on Wednesday, December 19, 1973 in Schrobenhausen.

From the first tambour – that's what the machine-wide roll is called – this piece has been preserved with a drawing:

In 1973 the daily production capacity was about 100 tons of cardboard. Today, it is up to 400 tons a day.

Since the start of production, LEIPA has steadily invested in cartonboard production in Schrobenhausen. The largest investment to date in April/May 2023 amounted to around 6 million euros. 50 years ago, the board machine and its infrastructure cost DM 11 million.
